Vivi Electric Bike Review: Design, Portability, and More

We recently acquired two Vivi Electric Bikes for our recreational activities, primarily exploring the neighborhood and enjoying bike rides during camping trips. The shipment process exceeded our expectations, arriving promptly and in pristine condition. My husband, tasked with assembly, found the instructions mostly clear, successfully navigating any confusing parts.

The Vivi Electric Bike boasts sturdiness at approximately 60 lbs, featuring a foldable design. However, the handle and pedals remain stationary, contributing to its bulkiness. Transporting the folded bikes in a hatchback proved challenging until we opted for a hitch installation and a robust bike rack from Amazon, capable of supporting at least 120 lbs.

The bike’s battery, though large and heavy, is conveniently removable with a handlebar-mounted bag. Charging involves two cords, one for charging and the other for connecting to the bike. Threading the connection cord through a small hole in the bag proved slightly cumbersome.

Pedal Assist and Riding Experience.

The pedal assist functionality, activated within seconds, adds a noticeable boost during cycling. I tend to disable it in tight spaces but rely on it for inclines and hills. The medium setting handles steep streets effortlessly, while the low setting is generally sufficient for regular use. A throttle on the handlebar allows continuous pedal assistance without pedaling, a feature I’ve found useful on occasion.

Switching to wider seats for comfort and upgrading the bell were necessary adjustments. We easily added bottle holders to the frame and addressed the absence of mirrors by planning a separate purchase. While lacking a built-in speedometer, I found a phone app for monitoring speed and distance.

The fenders, though functional, are somewhat flimsy, and at 5’3″, I occasionally encounter challenges with the bike’s height and the back fender. Despite these minor quirks, we’re delighted with the bike’s overall performance and the bonus of a reasonable cost, a sleek appearance, and a one-year warranty. As of now, we haven’t encountered any major issues, and we appreciate the value these electric bikes bring to our recreational experiences.
